These coaches were constructed between 1890 and 1902, and were used in the more rural parts of the system.
They are ideal for the sleepy branchline terminal so often modelled.
By the late 1930s they were strictly 'backwater' vehicles, used for mundane tasks like workmen's trains South Wales, often with the 1st class sections downgraded to 3rd.
This practice continued until the early 1950s, whilst others became 'camping coaches' in the 1930s or were grounded (kit 501). 2 x 1st & 2 x 3rd composite.
