This non-corridor, non-gangwayed coach was built between 1903 and 1910 by the Midland Railway.
They were used as close-coupled sets for surburban services in the Manchester and Birmingham areas, remaining in service until the early 1950's.
Note that kit 711 is also suitable to make a composite coach with four were made smaller by reducing the distance between partitions, thereby narrowing the legroom between sets.
Thus 1st class compartments were 6ft. 9in across. All 1st (7 compartment).
