This non-corridor, non-gangwayed coach was built between 1903 and 1910 by the Midland Railway.
They were used as close-coupled sets for surburban services in the Manchester and Birmingham areas, remaining tin service until the early 1950's.
Note that kit 713 is also suitable to make a composite coach with four were made smaller by reducing the distance between partitions, thereby narrowing the leg room between sets. Thus 1st class compartments were 6ft. 9in across, and 3rd class were only 5ft 11in. Brake 3rd (6 compartment).
