Q1 33016 BR Black Early Emblem

The Q1 0-6-0 is an austerity locomotive designed by Oliver Bulleid for wartime freight haulage on Southern Railways. In all 40 were built with one surviving into preservation. The design ingenuity of Oliver Bulleid allowed the Q1 to haul freight loads that had been designated for much larger locomotives prior to the outbreak of war. The Q1 survived into post nationalisation and was finally withdrawn in 1966. Both SR and Br liveries are covered by the Dapol model.
