Norstand Grimsby No.488 Butterley, Coal Steel Open Wagon
Norstand Ltd was a firm of shipbuilders and repairers from Grimsby formed in 1938. In May 1939 they received 100 of the Butterley-type steel wagons, numbered 467-566, of which one is the subject of this new model.
New printing techniques now adopted have enabled Peco to refine the detail on their N scale wagons, this wagon demonstrating an unusual, but prototypical, colour variation of black on the sides and grey on the wagon ends.

'Private owner wagons abounded prior to nationalisation, they would often be seen far from their base as they were sent to collect raw materials and supplies such as coal, and deliver finished goods.
All Peco wagons feature free running wheels in pin point axles.
The ELC coupling, whilst compatible with the standard N gauge couplings, keeps a realistic distance between vehicles and enables the PL-25 electro magnetic decoupler to be used for remote uncoupling.
