10ft 7 Plank Coal Wagon Middleton Colliery Leeds no613

This item is based on Peco's 10ft wheelbase 7 plank open wagon, representing one of a batch of 50 wagons built in 1911, and registered for use by the Midland Railway. The Middleton Colliery site is now the location of the Middleton Railway, one of the UK's oldest heritage railways, near Leeds, West Yorkshire. Peco's model faithfully represents the prototype, with its red body and white-shaded-black text, numbered as 613, and comes complete with a coal load.

'

Private owner wagons abounded prior to nationalisation, they would often be seen far from their base as they were sent to collect raw materials and supplies such as coal, and deliver finished goods.

All Peco wagons feature free running wheels in pin point axles.

The ELC coupling, whilst compatible with the standard N gauge couplings, keeps a realistic distance between vehicles and enables the PL-25 electro magnetic decoupler to be used for remote uncoupling.
