MGR Coal Hopper Wagon HOP-AB, The unit coal concept, referred to as ''merry go round'' revolutionised the movement of coal in this country.

These hopper wagons, built in their thousands made possible important efficiencies in the coal and electricity industries at a time when multi megawatt power stations were built in E. Midlands and Yorkshire. now in the twilight of there career, due to the trend towards the use of high capacity bogie wagons for the movement of coal, many can still be found at work in South Wales, East Midlands, Yorkshire and Scotland.
